They have had been on Earth since humanity's beginning, secretly manipulating humanity and its development for their own ends. Using post-hypnotic suggestions to manipulate other species into doing their bidding. All memory of the Silents are instantly erased from one's memory the moment after an individual looks away from them. So what can be more scarier than a creature who can manipulate you and you have no memory of them?

These are the Silence - creatures from the Doctor Who universe. To keep track of their encounters with the Silence, Doctor Who's characters mark tallies on their bodies or use audio-recorder devices embedded in their hands to let them know if they have seen the Silence. Here Amy Pond is discovering a large group of them - a nod to a scene in the episode titled Day of the Moon.

In our family we are such big Doctor Who fans.

A great big thank you goes out to my niece, Marlee who agreed to be Amy Pond. Not very hard since she bears a resemblance to Karen Gillian.

Thanks to the Silent for making it's appearance. It is not a person in costume. It is a 6 inch toy - the right light, the right textures and adding eyes can do wonders.

I am such the geek - can you tell what other nods to some iconic shows are in the picture?

The phrase "They're here" is the famous line uttered in Poltergeist.

The total of the tally marks on the wall is 108 - any Lost fan knows what and how many times that iconic number is present in the show.

Oh, and the title is Hamlet's last line.
